Jim Oliver

Jim Oliver played for several clubs during his career including making appearances for seven Highland League clubs in total. Jim played for Inverness Thistle for two seasons during the 1980's and will be fondly remembered as a member of the Thistle team that had a successful run in the Scottish Cup during the 1984-85 season beating Kilmarnock 3-0 at Kingsmills in the 3rd Round and then going on to play Celtic at Parkhead. Jim played in both midfield and upfront and scored a number of goals winning both an Inverness Cup and a North of Scotland Cup winners medal during his time at Kingsmills Park.

Jim remembers the famous cup run well "I have fantastic memories of our cup run in 1985 when we beat Kilmarnock 3-0 and then played Celtic at Parkhead (won't mention the score). Roshie still blames me for the defeat as I missed a chance when it was 0-0 and as Celtic went on to win the Scottish Cup that year he tells everyone I cost him a place in Europe."
